Dr. Niranjan Chipalkatti (Chips) is a Professor of Accounting at Seattle University. Dr. Chipalkatti earned his Ph. D from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and his B. Com. from the University of Mumbai. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and was the founding Chair of the Seattle Chapter of ICAI. Earlier in his career in India, Dr. Chipalkatti worked as an auditor at A.F. Fergusons and as an accounting manager at Hindustan Unilever.
Dr. Chipalkatti’s research focuses on the role of accounting information in reducing information asymmetry and building transparency in capital markets. His research has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Risk Finance, Journal of Applied Finance, Journal of International Accounting Research, and the Journal of Developing Areas among others. He teaches financial accounting courses at various levels.
