Cary Moon

Urban Planner & Activist

Cary Moon is an urban planning activist and runner-up in the 2017 Seattle mayoral election. She was co-founder and director of the People’s Waterfront Coalition, a coalition to tear down Seattle’s aging waterfront highway, reclaim 22 acres of public land for civic use, and invest in transit and streets for local access. She has received numerous awards for this work, along with urban housing affordability research and activism. Her work has been featured in local galleries and museums and local and national media. She has a BS in Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Landscape Architecture and certificate in Urban Design from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives next to Pike Place Market with her family and works toward a future Seattle that is inclusive, creative, and committed to equity and shared prosperity.
