Lance Matteson became the Executive Director of SEED in February 2013. Matteson grew up in the Seattle area. He attended Harvard University as an undergraduate and Willamette University Law School. He practiced law in Seattle for six years before entering the Peace Corps. He was recognized as Outstanding Peace Corps Volunteer for Africa for the work he did in Mali. Subsequently he held various positions in community and economic development organizations in the Middle East. Matteson has had hands-on experience with complex real estate transactions as well as leading staff members and structuring boards of directors. His breadth of experience with economic and community development and his work with varied groups will be an asset in bringing together a diverse group of Southeast Seattle stakeholders to ensure a vibrant Southeast Seattle community.
