Bright Spots on the Horizon
Bright Spots on the Horizon
Artist: Mark Ditzler
Location: Wellspring Family Services: Rotary Support Center for Families (1900 RainierAve S)
Description: Hanging above the Path in the atrium, is a glass sculpture designed and fabricated by Southeast Seattle artist Mark Ditzler. “Bright Spots on the Horizon” is a series of amber, red and gold circles, in varying diameters, that are suspended by cables from the 40’ ceiling. The “Bright Spots” are colored with wedges of iridescent glass that will reflect the sun as it shines through the lobby windows. The lobby also features a series of wall-mounted glass circles that will honor the major donors to Family Services’ Capital Campaign. PAUSE project, Spring 2009.

In honor of the many donors that made their new building a reality, Family Services hired SEEDArts’ Public Art Program to commission local artists for two donor recognition artworks. The goal of the artwork is to add warmth to the space and welcome visitors, especially children,
into the building.
