Responding to the need for business district identifiers, SEED partnered with the Rainier Beach Community Empowerment Coalition (RBCEC) to offer training workshops for area youth to create 25 fabric banners for lightpoles in the Rainier Beach Business District. Students worked with professional graphic designer, Hiawatha Davis, to learn the basics of graphic design on the computer. Following the workshop, the graphic designer incorporated the student’s ideas and designs into 3-5 final designs for the fabric banners, which have been installed in the Rainier Beach Business District along Rainier Ave S, S Henderson St, and Seward Park Ave S.
